Milestones for MACO Trieben

Hardly anyone is aware of how often we come into contact with MACO products on a daily basis. The fittings from the world market leader only ensure that windows and (sliding) doors have a function and can be opened, tilted and securely locked, for example. And from now on, these will be produced in Trieben, Styria, in an even more sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. Behind this is a sophisticated system that MACO implemented
together with Siemens. The measures are impressive: A 940 kW high-temperature heat pump reduces gas consumption by 40 percent. With the pump, unused waste heat is efficiently used for process heating by means of a newly constructed pipeline network over one kilometer long from the process cooling pool. As a result, water removal from the well — and thus overall water consumption — has been significantly reduced: The savings amount to around 490,000 cubic meters of water per year. A cold storage tank is used to cushion load peaks. An optimized conversion of plant hydraulics through expansion and adjustment as well as new efficient pumps ensure a sustainable energy network. In order to ensure reliability, a partial migration of the measurement and control technology was carried out. The extensive measures save around 1900 tons of CO2 and around 5300 megawatt hours of gas every year — that’s good for your wallet and for the environment!
