However, Pauritsch\u2014who, as Product and Solution Security Officer at Siemens Austria, is responsible for the cybersecurity of all products and solutions in the building technology sector\u2014knows from his many years of experience that this is not yet the case. “For companies, the question isn’t whether they’ll be hacked, but simply when. “And the rule here is: if you’re well prepared, you can keep your business running,” said Pauritsch. With an ever-increasing number of connected products, digital solutions, and\u2014not least\u2014state and EU-wide regulations, cybersecurity is taking center stage. In light of the growing need, what was once a single role is now evolving into an entire team. That is why, starting in October 2025, Robert Pauritsch has been building an entire department to meet the long-term demand for cybersecurity solutions using state-of-the-art technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“One of our most important tasks is to raise awareness of the risks that lurk when a company is unprotected. “Using what\u2019s known as a gap assessment, we work with our clients to identify where the gaps are\u2014and develop a plan for how to close them,” explains Pauritsch. The 37-year-old is very familiar with the products and solutions in the building technology sector: He has been with Siemens for 15 years and has held his current position as Product and Solution Security Officer since 2018. However, he laid the foundation for his career somewhere else entirely: with an apprenticeship in electrical engineering in Styria. In 2011, he moved to Siemens, where he initially commissioned technical systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot has happened since then: Robert Paurtisch first developed a robust IT portfolio for the building services market and then went on to specialize in cybersecurity, all while pursuing training, education, and certifications. Today, the 37-year-old is deeply rooted in cybersecurity and knows: \u201cThe once elusive field of cybersecurity has definitely moved beyond its adolescence and into adulthood, and now offers concrete protection and measurable added value for companies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
