And that starts with scheduling appointments, extends from consultation to financing, and includes securing grants. “We can help you determine exactly what is eligible for funding and provide the necessary documentation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Our comprehensive package won over our customers because it ensured that state-of-the-art technology would be implemented, allowing us to achieve the maximum possible energy savings.” “This is how we are sustainably reducing the CO2<\/sub> footprint of the K\u00f6flach thermal spa,” says Martin Salcher, Siemens’ overall project manager. “As a first step in this green building project, the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at the spa and hotel were modernized, which made it possible to reactivate heat recovery from exhaust air.” This measure made it possible to optimize the ventilation as well as the dew point-based temperature and humidity control in all bathing areas. Consequently, the smaller proportion of outside air required\u2014and to be heated\u2014reduces energy consumption. The building systems were upgraded through the implementation of the Siemens Desigo CC building management platform. This ensures that the system is easy to operate throughout its entire service life and that it is operated in an energy-efficient manner with the support of energy monitoring. In addition, the bathing water treatment system was renovated and brought up to the current state of the art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the overall analysis also showed that, for certain facilities, modernization would not make economic sense and would therefore have a negative impact on the payback period of the overall project. This included, for example, the replacement of selected circulation pumps and the water treatment system for the hotel pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The modernization of Therme Nova took several years because many of the projects could not be carried out during normal operations\u2014and the goal was to minimize the number of days the facility would be closed to visitors. Thanks to detailed planning and flawless coordination, Siemens overcame this challenge with ease\u2014and reaped many benefits in the process. Simply replacing the pumps and installing a new control system saves 30 or 40 percent in energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The newly installed technology generates annual energy cost savings in the six-figure euro range and will therefore pay for itself in just ten years given the current market conditions. \u201cAssuming a 20-year lifespan, it\u2019s safe to say that the managers of the K\u00f6flach thermal baths did everything right,\u201d confirms Georg Wusser. A maintenance contract ensures long-term energy-efficient operation and the high system availability required for Therme Nova.
