The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions, and Water Management\u2014BMLUK for short\u2014is responsible, among many other things, for climate and environmental protection in Austria. It goes without saying that we also ensure the efficient use of energy and other resources within our own departments. To achieve the best possible results, the BMLUK has been relying on the federal contracting program with Siemens Austria as its partner for over 20 years, with the goal of improving energy efficiency in buildings. Siemens guarantees energy savings, and the investments are financed from these savings. Existing energy-saving potential in building systems is realized through targeted modernization and optimization. This leads to lower operating costs and increased value. The required investments will pay for themselves through savings on energy and operating costs over the term of the contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2026 to 2035, in addition to tried-and-true measures such as monitoring and data analysis, the feasibility of ground-mounted PV systems with container-based energy storage will also be assessed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This year, the partnership between the BMLUK and Siemens was extended to include a third project phase. During the period from 2026 to 2035, additional energy-efficiency solutions will be analyzed and implemented. In addition to tried-and-true measures such as monitoring and data analysis of measurement, control, and regulation technology, as well as the resource-efficient conversion of lighting to LED technology, the feasibility of ground-mounted PV systems with container-based energy storage is also being evaluated. “Energy Flexibility Services” ensure the ideal balance between energy supply and demand. The resulting energy savings\u2014which amount to approximately two million euros over the course of the project\u2014will finance the entire project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, Siemens guarantees success and provides the financing up front. “Federal contracting guarantees the promised services.
