Energy costs, which have risen sharply in recent years, are a burden on businesses and households. With the goal of significantly reducing energy costs, Siemens has developed Flexibility Services, a solution that ensures the intelligent optimization of the energy system in buildings. This approach leverages the flexibility potential of the building’s components through variable energy rates and also reduces costly peak loads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on advanced algorithms such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Machine Learning (ML), these services optimize energy systems in existing buildings. This is made possible by the new Electricity Industry Act\u2014through increased competition and more flexible rates in Austria. Flexibility Services enable companies to respond early to new regulatory frameworks and thus capitalize on future opportunities in a targeted manner. A modern flexibility management system makes it possible to economically tap into the spot electricity market through smart load shifting, optimized use of proprietary generation and storage systems, and the reduction of grid fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Siemens is leveraging the opportunities offered by the flexibility system to profitably capitalize on the changing conditions in the spot energy market. Flexibility Services is ISO 27001-certified and was developed and tested as part of the research activities of the Aspern Smart City Research (ASCR) research association in aspern Seestadt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
